versus another player.

1. Charterleague will cost £10 to play for the 2009/10 season. £8 will go toward the league competition, while £2 will go toward the knockout trophy competition. Players will have automatic entry to both competitions.
2. Prize money will be divided roughly 66% / 33% between 1st / 2nd places in each competition. All entry money will go directly into the prize pool.
3. All players allocated a home Charterleague fixture must select a club playing at home from the official list published on this website only. Likewise, all players allocated an away Charterleague fixture must select a club playing away. Players should make their selection in the manner advised on the main page. The only exception are neutral venue Charterleague fixtures (see Rule 6).
4. Selections will be valid if received by kick off time.
5. You can change your selection as long as it is before kick off time, the only exception being neutral venue Charterleague fixtures. If your selection is late, it will be invalid (no exceptions). Late selections will revert to the selection made directly previous by the player, or if no other selections were made then the player's magic number will be used to make a selection for them. Similarly, if no selection is made or the player's selection is invalid, the player's magic number will make a selection for them.
6. For neutral venue games, the clubs will be selected and handed to me and selected clubs will not be disclosed to the participating players until both selections have been submitted. IN this instance only, no changes of selection will be allowed. If I am involved, I will be required to make my selection before my opponent does. If I don't, then my magic number will be used. Neutral venue magic number selections will always pick the away club for the corresponding real match.
7. If a player's selection pertains to a real match which is postponed or abandoned then the Charterleague fixture will be postponed and a revised fixture will be created. All revised league competition fixtures and trophy competition fixtures will be posted at least five days before they take place, so players are encouraged to visit the Charterleague website regularly.
8. League competition places and trophy competition group phase places will be determined by points firstly, goals scored secondly, goal difference thirdly, and results between the affected Charterleague teams fourthly. If no conclusion can be drawn, random.org shall be used. Three tests will be made before the fourth randomisation will decide. Whichever Charterleague team which random.org lists first will finish in the superior position.
9. Only goals before full time will count. Extra time goals DO NOT count.
10. NEW FOR 2009/2010 - Knockout Charterleague fixtures that end in a draw will go to extra time and penalties. Before knockout Charterleague fixtures, players will be required to select a back-up club for extra time if required. This club can either be playing home or away. Only second half goals scored by the player's selected club will count as extra time goals for that player. Should this not establish a Charterleague fixture winner then the penalty shoot-out will take place. Before knockout Charterleague fixtures, players will be required to select five club for penalties. Should the player's selected club score at any time during their real match it will result in a scored penalty. Penalty shoot-outs will be a best of ten penalties. Should penalties not decide the outcome then sudden death penalties will take place. The first sudden death penalty's result for each player will be determined by whether the club playing at home relating to that player's magic number scores at any time during their real match. If a second sudden-death penalty is required, then the Charterleague team listed on the left hand side of the Charterleague fixture will have their next penalty's result represented by the club playing at home in the next real match down from the real match used for the previous penalty. The Charterleague team listed on the right hand side of the Charterleague fixture will have their next penalty's result represented by the club playing at home in the next real match up from the real match used for the previous penalty. Where a player does not make a selection, the standard magic number away club will be used for the regular 90 minutes. The Charterleague team listed on the left will have the away club from their magic number plus one for their extra time selection, whereas the Charterleague team listed on the right will have the away club from their magic number minus one for their extra time selection. Penalties selections will be made by magic number plus 2 to 6 for the Charterleague team listed on the left for penalties 1 to 5, whereas the magic number minus 2 to 6 will be made for the Charterleague team listed on the right for penalties 1 to 5.
11. The league competition programme will be generated using a computerised randomiser. Firstly the Charterleague teams will be randomised and then the structured Charterleague fixture list will be randomised, therefore ensuring no favouritism toward any team or any order of Charterleague fixtures. Similarly, trophy competition draws will be made using a computerised randomiser.
12. If Charterleague makes an official decision about any incident that any player objects to then the ultimate decision will be made via a vote by all players excluding myself and the players directly involved in the dispute. If a conclusion cannot be made from this then I will cast the deciding vote. Any decision made from this course of events will be final.
13. 100% of all received application money goes into the prize fund. Charterleague has no desire to generate any profit from this competition this season.
14. Any player that is expelled from the Charterleague will receive the amount of application money back that they could have gained back at the time of expulsion. Charterleague will be very unlikely to allow that player to play again in the future, as expulsion will always be a last resort and will only be expected to take place in extreme circumstances.
15. Players are advised to make their selection as early as possible. If "angelfire"* is down (although unlikely), the Charterleague will not be responsible for this and although selections can be made via text message to 07963218530, players must take full responsibility for their selections. Charterleague is of the thinking that if players care enough about making their selection, then they will make sure it has been officially recognised. Charterleague advises its players to make their selection by the day before the game to avoid such issues. Remember, it's meant to be fun!
16. Charterleague cannot be held responsible if selections are not made by the suggested methods. These being charterleague@mail.com or by text message to 07963218530. Selections can be revised if the player can prove in a definite fashion that they made every attempt to select via these methods.
